What is an Emerging Market

A market of a developing country, which generally possess a per capita gross domestic product (GDP) substantially below the average for a developed market, have substantially greater government imposed barriers to foreign direct investment (FDI) and may have relaxed regulatory environments.

Emerging market securities tend to be the most volatile in the world but they have the greater growth potential due to significant risks posed by political upheaval, corruption and currency collapse.
