The Securities Exchange of Barbados was established in June 1987. It was reincorporated on August 2, 2001 as the Barbados Stock Exchange (BSE). In April 1991, the stock exchanges of Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and Barbados began cross-trading of listed securities.
In January 1992, the BSE launched an unlisted securities market to assist small companies in need of capital. Currently there are 20+ listed companies on the Board of the BSE including several cross-listed companies from within the Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM) but outside of Barbados.
