The Egyptian Exchange, formerly known as the Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchange (CASE), is one of the oldest stock markets established in the Middle East, tracing its origins to 1883 when the Alexandria Stock Exchange was established, followed by the Cairo Stock Exchange in 1903. Trading takes place on stocks, bonds, mutual funds, exchange traded funds (ETF), global depository receipts (GDR) and other structured products.

The Egyptian government has been taking concrete steps towards the establishment of a commodities exchange in 2017. The commodity exchange will be activated as soon as the exchange's infrastructure and the development of mechanisms for pricing grain securities are completed.
