Official Website: Athens Exchange (ATHEX)

In 1876, the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE) is founded as a self-regulated public organization, which in 1918, transformed into a public entity. In 1995, as part of the efforts to modernize the capital market, the Greek State became the sole shareholder but within the next 4 years, the equity stake was reduced to 47.7% through private placement sales.

In 1999, the Athens Derivatives Exchange (ADEX) and the Athens Derivatives Exchange Clearing House (ADECH) begin operations, and in August 1999, the first derivative products are traded. In September 2002, the ASE and the ADEX merged to form the Athens Exchange.
