Bursa Malaysia is an exchange holding company established in 1973 and listed in 2005. Today, it is one of the largest bourses in ASEAN and it is home to more than 900 companies across 60 economic activities, which are listed either on the Main Market for large-cap established companies or on the ACE Market for emerging companies of all sizes.

Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Berhad (BMD), a subsidiary of Bursa Malaysia, was established in 1993. BMD provides, operates and maintains equity, interest rates, bond, agricultural commodity (crude palm oil and palm kernel), metal commodities (gold and tin) futures and options market trading and settlement services.

In addition to equity and derivative securities, Bursa Malaysia is a leader in a niche area of finance. To promote Malaysia as the international hub of Islamic finance, Bursa Malaysia has established an Islamic Markets team, dedicated to the development of Shariah compliant capital markets products and trading platform.
